Road Recap: One win, one loss for the Hawks on the road

In two away games for the Hawks this week, they’re coming home with a 3-2 shootout loss in Port Coquitlam and a 5-4 win in Langley tonight over the Trappers.

In PoCo, Brogan Kennedy and Lukas Hoff, two of the Hawks’ leading scorers, each scored a goal in the second period, putting the Hawks up 2-1 through two.

The Trailblazers were able to tie the game with six minutes to go to send the game into extra time, leading to a 3-2 win for the home team, handing the Hawks their first loss of the season.

Delta bounced back in Langley Wednesday, though, by hanging on to a 5-4 win against a Trappers team that came on strong in the third.

The game marked the season debut of Ashton Thornton, who had made three previous appearances for the Ice Hawks since 2024. He made 36 saves to keep the Hawks on top.

Brandon Burns had the lone goal in the first period to give the Hawks the lead, and they never relinquished it. Hoff, Jack Tudhope, and Kennedy all had goals in the middle frame to make a 4-0 game for the visiting team before Hudson Guiel scored the eventual game winner early in the third.

Langley pushed hard in the third, scoring four goals and outshooting Delta 18-3 in the final frame, but the Hawks were able to hang on for their fourth win of the year.

The Hawks return home on Saturday, September 26 to face off with the Ridge Meadows Flames for the first time this season.
