Hawks washed out by Tsunami

Coastal 5, Delta 3

After an eventful first period on Saturday night, the Coastal Tsunami took over the game and took the win over the Delta Ice Hawks 5-3 in North Delta.

Coastal opened the scoring nearly halfway through the first period, but Delta evened the score just 18 seconds later with Beckett Matlock’s fourth goal of the year.

Brogan Kennedy gave the Hawks the lead on the power play about three minutes later with his seventh goal, and Kishan Saggu made a beautiful move around goalie Hayden Paris to score his first-ever junior hockey goal for a 3-1 Hawks lead with two and a half minutes left in the opening frame.

After that, the Tsunami were the only team to find the back of the net – scoring one more goal in the first, two in the second, and an empty-netter in the third to take the game by a 5-3 final.

The Hawks now have a week off, as the next game is on Saturday, October 10 against the Burnaby Steelers for the first time this season.
