Nov 23 Game Recap – Hawks win!

The Hawks got back on track Wednesday night, defeating the Aldergrove Kodiaks 9-0, following a loss to the Trappers the night before.

Coming off a solid performance at the Prospects Game on Tuesday, Zach Shaughnessy got the start and the shutout on the road, turning away all 24 shots he faced to keep the Kodiaks off the scoresheet.

Delta jumped all over Aldergrove right out of the gate, scoring four goals on 16 shots in the first period. Carson Hemenway got the first goal of the game on the power play, his sixth goal of the season and the eventual game-winner.

Minutes later, Carson Merriman, Tye Hemenway, and Aiden McGregor-Bennett all scored within 3 minutes of each other, pushing the Hawks to a big 4-0 lead after 20 minutes.

Midway through the second, the Hawks had a pair of power plays and, fresh of playing in the Prospects Game, Payton Hu scored on both of them, bringing his goal tally to 14 on the season.

McGregor-Bennett and Merriman each added their second goals of the game before the end of the middle frame, doubling the Hawks’ lead to 8-0 through two.

Alec Scouras added one final goal less than a minute into the third to make it a. 9-0 final score for the visitors.
