The Ice Hawks swept a home-and-home with the Mission City Outlaws with a 7-0 shutout win at the Ladner Leisure Centre on Tuesday night.
Zach Shaughnessy stopped all 17 shots he saw to tally his third shutout of the season, and the Hawks fired 49 on net to keep the Outlaws’ goalie busy all game.
Dylan Stafford netted his second of the year with a seeing-eye shot from the point that made its way through traffic to get the Hawks on the board and open the scoring 1-0.
The Hawks added a couple quick ones towards the end of the period, first with Miller Bruckshaw following the play in the offensive zone and picking up a rebound out front for his fifth on the year to double Delta’s lead.
And Grady Lenton continued his scoring streak with a goal on a rush with Brogan Kennedy and AP Cruz Waltze, finishing off a centering pass from Kennedy to put the Hawks up 3-0 going into the first intermission.
Bruckshaw added his second of the game to start the second period, throwing a shot on net from the far left side that snuck through Jake Poblete, ending his night and giving a 4-0 lead to the home team.
Past the halfway mark of the middle frame, Nick Goyer picked up the puck deep in the Hawks’ zone and took it all the way himself, scoring over the glove far side on Carter Greenway to put Delta up 5-0.
In the third, Lenton centred the puck to Ryden Mathieson, who threw a quick backhand shot on net, catching Greenway off guard, scoring over his shoulder to really open up the score.
Dany Bereza notched his seventh of the season with just a couple minutes left in the game, going post and in on the far side to finish up the scoring at 7-0 Delta.
