The Hawks continued their win streak Sunday night in Burnaby, as the Hawks took home an 8-4 win over the Grandview Steelers.
After the first period, the two teams were tied with a goal apiece. Henry Smith had Delta’s goal unassisted, his first of the night.
Smith and Brayden Sinclair each had a goal on a power play before the halfway mark of the second period, outscoring the home team Grandview 2-1 in the frame for a 3-2 lead.
Sinclair got his second goal 32 seconds in, and Smith completed his hat trick at the two-minute mark to make it 5-2 Delta. The Steelers got one back, but that’s as close as they would come.
Payton Hu and Conner Merriman scored successive goals to put the game out of reach at 7-3. Each team scored one more goal before the end of the game, Kyle Robinson scoring short-handed for the Hawks with 23 seconds to go, for a final of 8-4 for the Delta Ice Hawks.
