Outlaws gun down Hawks

The Delta Ice Hawks fell 5-2 to the Mission City Outlaws in their final game of the 2019 calendar year.

Mission got on the board first, taking advantage of one of their three power plays in the period with Justin Hargrave beating Jordy Engleson.

Later in the frame, Mitch Lavoie came away with the puck after a battle in the neutral zone and went on a breakaway. He tied the game with his eighth goal of the year, backhanding it past Isaac Elias to tie the game 1-1 after 20 minutes.

The second period belonged to the Outlaws, who unloaded 14 shots on Engleson and had goals from Tristan Takats, Dylan Tonks, and Matthew Konrad.

The Hawks registered just eight shots in both of the first two periods, having little luck against Elias and the Mission defense.

Tonks added his second goal of the game in the third period, sealing the victory for the Outlaws.

Truman Chiu capitalized quickly on an Ice Hawks power play in the third period, bringing the Hawks within three, but that’s as close as they would come.

Delta is now off for Christmas break until the Winter Classic in Richmond, with games on January 4 at 4pm and January 5 at 10am.
