It was a goalie duel of a game in Burnaby Sunday night, as the Hawks and Steelers had to go to overtime to decide a winner, with Delta coming out on top, 1-0.
Through three periods of hockey, neither team was able to find the back of the net, as the two goaltenders slammed the door at every turn.
Zach Shaughnessy stopped 25 shots for a shutout, and Ronin Geraghty stopped 41, but shot 42 from Delta’s Mateo Sjoberg broke through to give the visitors the win in extra time. Sjoberg found some space down the left wing and went directly to the net, going from forehand to backhand to deke out Geraghty, and he was able to chip it in for the win.
