The Hawks weren’t able to keep the win streak going, following a 4-2 loss in Chilliwack to the Jets Sunday night.
Chilliwack opened the scoring just 28 seconds in, a goal from Kaelan Huibers, to give the home team the quick 1-0 lead. Brody Quiring doubled the lead later in the period, but the Hawks were able to break through before the first 20 minutes were up.
Mateo Sjoberg started a passing play across the Jets’ zone to Blake Medalla, then he went over to Dawson Toledo on the far side of the net. Toledo fought off a defenseman’s stick just in time to kick the pass onto his stick and wrist it in past Luke Roberts to get the Hawks on the board.
With less than a minute to go in the first and Delta on the power play, the Hawks won the faceoff and Tye Hemenway passed to Ryden Mathieson on the left faceoff dot, and Mathieson ripped a one-timer into the net to tie the game 2-2.
Unfortunately for Delta, the scoring stopped there, as the Jets’ Jesse Brideau scored the game winner in the second and Quiring added his second of the game in the third to give the Jets the win in the first meeting between the two teams this season.
