Ice Hawks drop pair of road decisions

After a red hot 5-0-0-1 start to the 2026-27 BCHC season, the Delta Ice Hawks dropped a pair of decisions on the road this week. The Ice Hawks continued to receive solid goaltending, and a strong performance from the return of Neland Voshell to the lineup, but could not come away with any points.

September 27: Chilliwack Jets 5, Ice Hawks 3

One night after Lucas Disiewich turned aside 46 shots at Sungod Arena to earn his first career junior shutout in a 7-0 rout of the Ridge Meadows Flames, the young netminder was right back between the pipes in Chilliwack.

The Ice Hawks came out flying as Neland Voshell opened the scoring with a goal that was pure artistry—a rush down the right wing, a beautiful shot, with the puck pinging off the post and in. Ryder Dunn followed with a first-period marker of his own, and Delta carried a 2-1 lead into the first intermission.

The Jets clawed into the lead, but the Ice Hawks weren’t finished. Lukas Hoff made things interesting in the third period by burying his fifth goal of the season to trim the deficit to 4-3. That was as close as Delta would get, and Chilliwack added a late marker to seal it.

Disiewich stopped 37 of 42 shots in the loss.

September 29: Ridge Meadows Flames 3, Ice Hawks 0

Two nights later in Maple Ridge, Ashton Thornton made his second start of the season and turned in a sturdy performance, turning aside 30 of 33 shots.

Josh Bettesworth provided all of the offence the Flames would need, scoring all three goals—a natural hat trick that stood as the entire offensive output of the game.

Delta’s powerplay, which has been a weapon early in the season, went cold, going 0 for 8.
