The Ice Hawks bounced back quickly from Tuesday’s loss by heading into Langley on Wednesday night and defeating the Trappers 7-5 in a barnburner.
Of the seven Hawks goals, Declan Warburton had three of them, giving him seven goals in his last five games and bringing him to 13 goals on the year.
Two of Warburton’s goals came in the first period, along with a short-handed breakaway goal from Mateo Sjoberg, to boost Delta to a 3-0 lead after 20 minutes.
Michele Romeo made it 4-0 Hawks early in the second period before the Trappers made a huge comeback in the frame, scoring five goals to take a 5-4 lead into the third.
But that didn’t last, as Warburton tied the game up at five with his hat trick goal, and then Danylo Bereza scored the winner and an insurance empty-netter in the final minutes to seal a 7-5 win for the Hawks.
