March 14 Game Recap

The Delta Ice Hawks’ season came to an end on Thursday night, as the Richmond Sockeyes took a 3-2 win and the Tom Shaw Conference final series 4-1.

Through the first 31 minutes of the game, the score remained 0-0 in a hard-fought battle between the Tunnel Series rivals, but Mattias Uyeda broke through to get Richmond onto the board first. Nicholas Noren followed nearly five minutes later with another short-handed goal in the series.

Brandon Petrie cut into the lead with less than two minutes left in the period, redirecting a pass from Hawks AP Jack Sears on the left wing into the net past Noah Stenvig, making it 2-1 through 40 minutes.

Uyeda scored the eventual winner four minutes into the third with Richmond on the power play to make it 3-1. The Hawks drew back within one with 1:25 left when a Carson Merriman shot went in off the skate of Payton Hu out front, but that was as close as Delta would come.

Best of luck to the Richmond Sockeyes and Ridge Meadows Flames in the PJHL Final!
