The Ice Hawks scored five unanswered goals in the third period to take a comeback 8-6 win on the road against the Ridge Meadows Flames.
After a tough second period, Zach Shaughnessy slammed the door in the third to help back the Hawks to the important road win, and Grady Lenton scored a natural hat trick to boost Delta past the defending PJHL champs.
Delta had a 2-1 lead after the first period, with goals from Danylo Bereza and Ryden Mathieson, split by a goal from the Flames’ Lucas Biros.
That tough second period saw five Flames goals and just one from the visitors, Mateo Sjoberg’s twenty-second of the season making it 6-3 Ridge through 40 minutes.
But the Hawks turned up the heat on the Flames in the third period, with Sjoberg adding his league-leading twenty-third of the season just 29 seconds into the frame.
Brogan Kennedy crept the Hawks within one halfway through the period, and then Lenton went on his tear, scoring three goals in a four-minute span to give the Hawks an 8-6 win.
