November 4 Game Recap

A five-game win streak for the Hawks came to an end on Saturday night in North Vancouver, as the Hawks fell 5-4 to the Wolf Pack.

Delta more than doubled North Van’s shot total in the game, 59-27, but just weren’t able to find the back of the net enough to take the game.

North Van jumped out to a 3-0 lead 3:19 into the game, with two goals from Rylan Oatman and one from JJ Pickell.

The Hawks didn’t give up though, getting a goal on a sharp-angle shot from Jaren Ashbee with five minutes left in the period, sending the teams to the dressing rooms with a 3-1 score.

The visitors got another goal shortly into the second period, with Colin Jang winning a faceoff in the North Van zone and getting the puck over to Conner Merriman in the slot for his sixth of the year.

Jared Bigelow gave North Van back their two-goal lead not long after, making it 4-2 after 40 minutes.

In the third, a North Van defender gave the puck right to Colin Jang, who took a stride and beat Zoltan Bencsik for his fourteenth of the year, bringing the Hawks within one.

Pickell scored another goal just over a minute later, the eventual game winner, putting the game out of reach for the Hawks in the end.

Merriman added his second of the night on another pass from Jang, this time on the power play, but it wasn’t enough, as the Hawks lost 5-4 on the road.
