Another chapter of the Tunnel Series went down in Richmond on Thursday night, with the Sockeyes winning their first game of the season against the Ice Hawks this year by a 7-1 score.
Richmond scored two goals in the first and one in the second, for a 3-0 lead after two periods. They added two more goals in the first two minutes of the third period, including a power play goal, to hold a 5-0 lead.
Danylo Bereza did eventually break the shutout, finishing off the play after Mateo Sjoberg stole the puck on the backcheck. Sjoberg took the puck into the Richmond zone and was able to sneak a pass through a couple of Sockeyes defenders to Bereza, who found the back of the net.
The Sockeyes scored two more goals before the end of the game to make it a 7-1 final at Minoru Arena.
