The Hawks went into the Christmas break in style on Saturday night, defeating the North Vancouver Wolf Pack 4-1 on the road.
It was a close game through two periods, and Remy Quintoro had a bounce-back night in net, following the loss in Richmond on Thursday, stopping 22 of 23 on the night.
Delta had the lone goal of the first period, with Oleksandr Gutsu passing up to Colin Jang, who tipped it on net and was stopped by Brayden Burrows, but the rebound went right to Hawks AP Jack Ferguson and he scored on a yawning cage.
North Van struck back in the second with the only goal in the middle frame, scored by Matthew Carniel, but that’s as close as the Wolf Pack would come, as it was also their only goal of the game.
The Hawks had three goals in the third period to seal the game, the first coming from Payton Hu. The Hawks were on the power play and Hu took a pass from Colin Jang, making a quick move around a defender and letting go a wrister past Burrows to take a 2-1 lead.
Jaren Ashbee scored his fifth of the season a few minutes later, picking up a pass that made it through a pack of players out front of the net, giving the defenceman an easy target for the goal.
Nicholas Goyer added an empty-netter in the last minute of the game, finishing off a play from Colin Jang, who beat out a North Van defender to a lob pass, helping send the Hawks into the break on a 4-1 win.
