It was a dramatic start to the Round 2 series between the Delta Ice Hawks and North Vancouver Wolf Pack, with the Hawks taking the 2-1 win in double overtime at the Ladner Leisure Centre Tuesday night.

Colin Jang, in his first game back from injury since January 2, scored the winner with less than three minutes remaining in the second extra frame of the night on the team’s seventieth shot of the game.

The first two periods were tight between the two teams, with both sides getting some good chances but neither was able to find the back of the net after 40 minutes.

It took until nearly the halfway mark of the third period before anyone got on the board, and it was Carson Merriman on the power play for the Ice Hawks. He took a pass from Tye Hemenway and did all the work, looping around his defender and putting it five-hole on Brayden Burrows to break the scoreless tie.

The Wolf Pack would tie it up a few minutes later on a goal from Ryan Hunter, who picked up the puck out front after a blocked shot, making it a 1-1 game and eventually sending it to overtime.

Towards the end of the second overtime, Colin Jang and Declan Warburton worked together along the boards to get the puck in North Van’s zone, and Warburton passed to Jang, who cut into the middle and fired a shot past Brayden Burrows blocker-side to end the game and win it for the home team.
