The Delta Ice Hawks have now won five games in a row, after defeating the Harold Brittain Conference-leading Langley Trappers 3-2 in a shootout last night at The Lodge.
Merik Erickson stopped 29 of 31 shots he faced, and shut the door on the Trappers in the shootout to help push Delta into sole possession of first place in the Tom Shaw Conference.
Both teams had a goal in the first period, with the Trappers scoring four minutes in, but Brayden Sinclair evened the score with his twenty-first goal of the year at the fifteen-minute mark.
PJHL Player of the Week Alec Scouras had the lone goal in the second period, sending the Hawks into the final frame up 2-1.
The Trappers fought back with the only marker of the third, and overtime solved nothing, which sent the two teams to a shootout. Delta’s Sinclair shot first, but was unsuccessful. Langley’s only two shooters were stopped by Erickson, and Carson Merriman and Scouras were able to beat goalie Dylan Black for the win.
