In the first visit to Port Coquitlam this season, the Ice Hawks fell 5-2 to the Trailblazers, thanks to a three-goal final period from the home team.
The Hawks had the only goal of the first period with Ryden Mathieson taking a shot, stopped by Kieran Caughran, and Mateo Sjoberg swooping in and finishing off the rebound for his league-leading thirtieth point of the season.
To start the second, Bailey Ewonus and Ryan Caughlan came out with two quick goals for PoCo to make it a 2-1 game, but Delta was able to tie it up on a beautiful passing play.
New Hawk Grady Lenton kept the puck in at the blue line and went down the right side and found Brogan Kennedy for a cross-ice pass. Kennedy sold out Caughran, faking like he was going to shoot, but instead finding Mathieson alone in front of the net for an easy tap-in to tie the game 2-2 after 40 minutes.
But in the third, PoCo took over again, with Ewonus, Caughlan, and Leo Keith netting goals to make it a 5-2 final.
