The Ice Hawks suffered their first loss on home ice of the season on Tuesday night, falling 3-0 to the Ridge Meadows Flames in their first matchup this year.

Zach Shaughnessy kept the score close and gave the Hawks a chance, stopping 31 of 34, but Delta wasn’t able to find the back of the net to get on the board.

Ridge had the first goal of the game, with Jack Foster passing inside to Matthew Wise to give the visitors a 1-0 lead. They would add to that lead before the end of the period, with Nathan Prodanuk putting in a rebound after a 2-on-1 to make it 2-0.

The score remained the same through the second period, as Shaughnessy came up big for his team in the middle frame, making multiple stops on Ridge Meadows odd-man rushes.

Exactly halfway through the third period, the Flames tacked on another insurance goal, this time a Brandon Osbourne shot from the point making it through traffic, to make it a 3-0 Flames final.
